STEP 1: Beneath the building, underground water and natural moisture begin to rise through the wall structure due to an electroosmotic phenomenon. At this stage, the wall still appears healthy and dry, while microscopic capillary channels inside the masonry slowly draw moisture upward from the soil.
STEP 2: Positively charged water molecules are naturally attracted upward by the negatively charged wall structure. As the electroosmotic effect intensifies, moisture rises higher into the masonry, and the first visible signs of humidity and salt deposits begin to appear near the base of the wall.
STEP 3: As moisture continues to rise through the masonry, it penetrates deeper into the walls and building materials. Salt crystallization, stains, cracks and deteriorating plaster begin to develop, causing visible structural and aesthetic damage over time.
